KB1103 - How to upgrade your LAS software

License Administration Server, or LAS, is our free software that centrally manages your software licenses of WM Software products at your organization. Here we talk about how to upgrade your LAS software to ensure you are always running the most recent. You can find out the most recent by visiting the LAS product page and looking in the Product Info box.

The LAS product page is www.wmsoftware.com/las

Notes:

  • You can move the LAS server to another server. However, only one LAS server can run per domain. If a LAS server finds another LAS server in the domain, it will stop itself.
  • Just as our other software licenses, the LAS, when newly installed, or when upgrading to a new major or minor version, the software itself will need to be reactivated.

Instructions:

For customers running LAS version 3.0 build 698 or later:
(Customers running this version need no special handling, as the upgrade process works simply by running the installation program)
Download the LAS software from our website: www.wmsoftware.com/download
Run the installation program on the same computer that is currently running LAS 3.0 build 967 or later.
The software will confirm the upgrade, then install itself.
Your data and product keys will remain intact. The LAS database will not be overwritten.

For customers running version 3.0 of LAS earlier than build 698:
(Customers running this version need special handling, as the upgrade process may overwrite your LAS database file. It can be recreated by re-entering product keys if there is any problem)

The database file is in the folder:
