If you want to move the LAS database from one computer to another, follow these steps:
- Upgrade the LAS on the old server to the latest version from the WM Software website
to make sure the database is updated with the latest changes.
- Uninstall the LAS on the old server (there cannot be two LAS servers running simultaneously on the network).
- Install the LAS software on the new server (it needs to be available 24/7
as WM Software products check in periodically to verify their activation).
- On the new computer:
- Exit out of the LAS console
- Run services.msc
- Stop the service “WMS License Administration Server WD” (you must stop this service first!)
- Stop the service “WMS License Administration Server”
- On the old server, copy all of the files from "C:\ProgramData\WM Software\License Administration Server" to the same location on the new
server.
- Update the SRV record for _wmslas on your company's DNS
server to point to the new server.
- On the new server:
- Start the service “WMS License Administration Server”
- Start the service “WMS License Administration Server WD"
- Start the LAS console
- On the old server, uninstall the LAS software
- On the old server, remove the folder “C:\ProgramData\WM Software\License Administration Server”
Another installation method one our server used was to copy all the files from the folder “C:\ProgramData\WM Software\License Administration Server” on the old
server to the same location on the new server. Then, uninstall the LAS software on the old
server. Finally, install the software on the new server.
