The Client is shown a list of users that are online.
Users can open up a chat session with users they have access to and that are online.

In this example, you can see the vast range of options the client provides while in a messaging session.

The Server allows the administrator to define groups, users, and view/disconnect/send messages to existing user connections. The server can also replicate with an Active Directory database.
