Licensing

What is a license?
WM Software does not sell its software - it sells licenses to use the software.
WM Software's software is protected as an intellectual property.
WM Software's software can only be used in accordance with the terms of the WM Software End User License Agreement (EULA). The EULA is available with every software installation.
All software programs are written by WM Software and are licensed exclusively by WM Software.

Licensing models
Standard licensing - the software is licensed per operating system. Software updates and free technical support are not included but can be purchased for an additional amount. It typically renews yearly and is referred to as the broad term "Maintenance and Support".
Subscription licensing - the software is licensed for use in a set period of time, either in single or multiple years. This model offers a lower up front cost and the ability to spread the software license costs over a period of time. Software updates and free technical support are included during the subscription period.

All evaluations downloaded from the WM Software web site are the full working versions of the product and come with a free evaluation license period, after which the software will expire and cease to run. You are free to evaluate and test the software within this time frame. Because of this, purchased products do not have a money-back guarantee. Please fully evaluate the software before purchasing - if you run into technical problems or need support during the evaluation, contact our support department, they are happy to provide assistance. The evaluations licenses are activated to a retail license by entering either an unlock code or automatically activating with a Product Key entered into our LAS software, after a license (or licenses) is purchased. No software is sent out via any media after purchase - delivery of the software is 100% electronic. We provide technical support for the evaluation versions of our software. Evaluations

All evaluations downloaded from the WM Software web site are the full working versions of the product and have a 21 or 30-day trial period, after which the software will expire. All software programs written by WM Software Inc. are licensed exclusively by WM Software Inc. You are free to trial and test the software within this time frame. Because of this, purchased products do not have a money-back guarantee. If you have any doubt about the product, please be sure to evaluate before purchasing - if you run into technical problems or need support during the evaluation, please contact our support department. The same software used for evaluation is activated (converted from evaluation to retail) by entering an activation code after purchasing. Delivery of the software is only from our website - the same download used to evaluate the software is the same download used to activate it. There is no requirement to uninstall or install a custom program or file. No software is sent out via any media after purchase. Reselling

Licenses sold are not-for-resale licenses, unless the purchaser is an approved WM Software reseller. All licenses re-sold without WM Software knowledge or approval will not be supported and will be subjected to the terms within the EULA.

Updates and Support

Where indicated, yearly support agreements are generally available for 25% per license, giving free technical support and free major/minor version upgrades. Builds are always available at no additional cost. Support covers only the current version of the software and one major.minor version prior.

Upgrading

Our software is kept track of by numerical version numbers in the format of major.minor.build. Upgrading to a different build with the same major.minor version are available at no charge. Upgrading to a new major or minor version from a previous version of the same software and license count are discounted 40% if no support agreement is purchased. If the software is purchased up to 30 days prior to a product’s release date, customers are eligible to receive the new major.minor version at no cost. If customers decide to upgrade to the latest version, the software needs to be upgraded within 60 days after the product’s release.

For example, if the product major.minor versions are the same (i.e. 6.5 to 6.5) and the build number is the same or newer build (i.e. 1282 to 1311), an upgrade of the software will not require a reactivation. If the product is a newer version (i.e. 6.7) than what was purchased (i.e. 6.5), and your company has an active support agreement with WM Software, the software can be upgraded at no additional cost. The software will need re-activated because of the newer version. If your company is running our LAS server, and the product key includes the latest version, the activation will take place automatically from within the software. If the product is a newer version than what you purchased (i.e. 6.5 to 6.7), and your company does not have an active support agreement with WM Software, the software can be upgraded and activated after paying the upgrade license cost.

Data is not lost during upgrades. It is a good idea, however, to Export the files from within the software before doing an upgrade, in case there is a problem with the computer during the upgrade process.

Discounts

We offer a 15% discount for government, non-profit, and educational institutions. Please let your salesperson know so you can receive the discount. We accept copies of 501(c) for U.S. customers.

Activating

The activation code used in our software is an anti-piracy technology designed to verify that the product has been legitimately licensed. Activation codes are not required for licenses when used with our LAS software. These activation key codes ensure the same software license cannot be activated on more than one computer at a time. After purchasing our software, an id/password is sent via email to the customer. The customer then uses this id/password to activate the software. Optionally, the customer can send us the computer code and we will send back the activation code.

LAS

Our LAS software (www.wmsoftware.com/las) enables companies to manage their own licenses and upgrades without having to contact WM Software for moving, upgrading, etc. When a new version of software is released, and the company has an active support agreement with WM Software, the company can request a new product key for the LAS to allow automatic activations for all upgraded software licenses.
