- On Windows 2000, XP, and 2003, ShutdownPlus Lite automatically carrys out the action chosen (Logoff, Lock, Restart, etc) without having to click another button.
- The dialog window still allows the user to change their option.
- On Windows Vista, 2008, 7, and 2008 R2, ShutdownPlus Lite avoids the problems associated with choosing the wrong option. On these operating systems, what the user chooses (Logoff, Restart, etc) gets immediately executed. If the user chooses the wrong option (i.e. Restart instead of Logoff), they can lose hours of work and have to wait for the computer to restart.
- On a server, the wrong option chosen (i.e. Restart instead of Logoff) can have a huge negative impact.

- Users do not lose their work because of an accidental choosing of the wrong option (i.e. they choose Restart when they wanted to choose Logoff).
- A countdown timer executes the option the user chose after a period of preset time (default is 30 seconds).
- Group policies ensure the same settings for all users.
