The flash video below shows how ShutdownPlus Rolling Restart systematically restarts all your terminal servers.

ShutdownPlus Rolling Restart works as follows:

  1. The master server disables logons on the first server.
  2. If all users log off the server, then the server is restarted. Disconnected users can reconnect.
Optional: If users are not logged off after the timeout period, logons are re-enabled and the master server skips to the next server in queue.
  3. After the server successfully comes online, the process is repeated on the next server.
Optional: servers that did not get restarted can be re-attempted on subsequent restart loops.

Details:
* If you have many servers to get restarted, you can configure multiple master servers.

* A master server is typically installed on the load balancing server, but can be installed on any server running terminal server.
